Fulfilling Goal 3

A nice article about some RPCVs who served in Maringa.

Google Comes to Tanzania

The first ever g|Tanzania Google conference will be happening February 2-3 in Dar es Salaam, and it's free.  The first day of the conference will be targeted at developers, the second day is about businesses and entrepeneurs.   More information here.  If you know ICT teachers or are good friends with internet cafe owners, let them know about it.

Malaria survey

Malaria kills 780,000 people per year, most of them African children. Peace Corps’ new Stomping Out Malaria in Africa initiative is supporting Volunteer efforts to make a meaningful impact in reducing malaria. Baseline Survey data from all Peace Corps Volunteers in Africa will allow the initiative to target its resources and provide the best possible support to all 3,000 Africa Region volunteers in all sectors engaged in important malaria prevention work.

Miaka Hamsini kwa Uhuru!

We are all happy that this year is the 50th anniversary of Peace Corps, and in addition to that, yesterday Tanzania celebrated the 50th anniversary of their independence.   I went to my favorite bar, had my hand kissed by a drunk man and played on the swing set and swively chair thingie with some children.  What did you do?
