Peace Corps Update - February 2012

Dear Peace Corps Family:

I am delighted that this year will see the reopening of Peace Corps programs in Nepal and Tunisia.

Zero malaria deaths is within our reach

Dear Volunteers of Peace Corps Tanzania,

In 2010 over half of a million people died from malaria.[1] This is more people than in the average American city. Imagine the entire city of Atlanta[2] being wiped off the map. The year before, we lost Denver[3]. The year before that, all of San Francisco[4], all gone, in one fell swoop.

Tanzania Reads

Some of our beloved RPCVs are continuing to make good in the world with an NGO called Tanzania Reads that works to establish libraries in Secondary Schools.   If you are considering, or currently working on, a library project, they'll help you, and as math and science teachers in Tanzania from several years ago, they understand all the problems with libraries.  More info can be found here.  Tanzania reads is also listed on our links page.
